The Robert L. Gilbertson Herbarium is named for Dr. Robert Lee Gilbertson, a distinguished mycologist who served on the faculty of the University of Arizona from 1967 until his retirement from teaching in 1995. He held Emeritus status until his passing in October 2011. The Herbarium was named for Dr. Gilbertson on March 11, 2005 in a joyful celebration of 'Gil' and his work.
