The Robert L. Gilbertson Mycological Herbarium at the University of Arizona houses over 40,000 accessioned specimens of fungi and fungus-like organisms, with special collections of rusts, polypores, and corticioid fungi. The collection also is home to over 100,000 strains of endophytic fungi. Our holdings are global in origin, with special attention to the macrofungi of Arizona and the southwestern United States, Mexico, Hawai'i, Alaska, and the Gulf Coast region of the USA. We provide identification services for the public, tours and educational activities, training for students in curatorial work and fungal diversity, and opportunities to volunteer.
Our accessioned collections are searchable at www.MyCoPortal.org.
We hold type specimens of newly described fungi, such as those listed here.
